Water Utility Inspector

The City of Anaheim is seeking an outgoing, self-motivated, confident, detail oriented individual with high ethical standards who is able to perform a wide variety of tasks and is familiar with the many aspects of Water Utility Operations and Distribution. The successful candidate will:
•Coordinates the scheduling of work between developers, contractors and the City; attending preconstruction conferences with developers and contractors.
•Checks plans and specifications for conformance; determines acceptability of materials; ensures that Utilities have been contacted and permits applied for.
•Consults with developers, contractors and homeowners regarding methods, materials and City specifications and codes.
•Arranges for inspecting pressure testing of water mains, inspects disinfection operations of main pipeline projects; makes final inspections and approving progress and final payment.
•Responds to underground service alerts and locating distribution mains as required.
The ideal candidate will:
•Extensive experience in water improvement construction inspection.
•Knowledge of principles and techniques of supervision; construction practices and materials; basic mathematics including Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry; material sampling, testing and estimate procedures; applicable laws, regulations, and codes governing the construction of water improvement projects; pumps, motors, electrical wiring, water well installation and rehabilitation, reservoirs, valves, piping; and some welding practices.
•A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs.
•An ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications; detect and locate faulty materials and work; enforce jobsite safety procedures and CAL-OSHA requirements; deal firmly but tactfully with contractors, businesses, engineers and property owners; communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
•A California Department of Health Water Certificate grade D1, D2 is desirable.
•A Backflow Prevention Device Tester Certificate is desirable.
4,394.00 - $5,345.60 Per Month
