Water Meter/Backflow Technician Job Order # JH1276 Merced, CA Read water meters, both manually and electronically, transferring info to the Finance Office; test and repair backflow assemblies including reduced pressure devices; double check valves and vacuum breakers; maintain written records and prepare necessary reports to meet City, County and State requirements; and perform related field maintenance on water distribution systems. For Water Meters: must be HS grad or equivalent and 2 years experience in the operation of a water distribution system. For Backflow: must be HS grad or equivalent, preferably 2 years experience in repair and operation of backflow devices. For either position, at the time of application, must have CA Class A driver’s license and CA Dept. of Health Services Water Distribution Operator Grade II. Must also have or have ability to obtain within 12 months of appointment a CA American Water Works Association Backflow Prevention certificate. Salary: $3,116 - $3,788 monthly.
